This AgriSETA-accredited course equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to implement and monitor pest control & crop protection.
Learners will gain insight into plant structures and functions, pests, diseases and weeds, collecting agricultural data, safe storage and handling of agrochemical products, pest control & crop protection.
The course includes ONE day of practical training, which can be completed either at our training facility (subject to date availability) or on a farm of the learner’s choice.
This course is recognised as a qualification for PCO (Pest Control Operator) applications and the following modules & Unit Standard are covered:
MODULE 1 – Plant Structures
- US 116199 - Demonstrate a basic understanding of the structure and function of a plant in relation to its environment, NQF 1, 4 CREDITS
- US 116057 - Understand the structure and functions of a plant, NQF 2, 5 CREDITS
- US 116272 - Demonstrate a basic understanding of the physiological functioning of the anatomical structures of the plant, NQF 3, 4 CREDITS
MODULE 2 – Pests & Diseases
- US 116204 - Recognise pests, diseases and weeds on crops, NQF 1, 5 CREDITS
- US 116124 - Control pests, diseases and weeds on all crops effectively and responsibly, NQF 2, 2 CREDITS
- US 116265 - Monitor pests, diseases and weeds on crops, NQF 3, 2 CREDITS
- US 116080 - Monitor, collect and collate agricultural data, NQF 2, 2 CREDITS
MODULE 3 – AgroChemicals
- US 116065 - Store and control agrochemical products effectively and responsibly, NQF 2, 4 CREDITS
- US 116125 - Apply crop protection and animal health products effectively and responsibly, NQF 2, 4 CREDITS
MODULE 4 - Quality Control in Pest Management
- US 116301 - Apply effective and responsible integrated pest, disease and weed control, NQF 4, 3 CREDITS
- US 116419 – Develop and implement a food safety and quality management system in an agricultural supply chain, NQF 5, 7 credits
