This AgriSETA-accredited course equips learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to manage and support the reproductive processes of farm animals. It covers both natural mating behaviours and artificial insemination (AI) techniques, following industry-standard practices to promote animal welfare and reproductive efficiency.

The course requires practical hours to qualify for your accredited certificate. These hours can be obtained on a farm of the learner’s choice in their area that is willing and able to assist, or AgriSkills can attempt to assist via the Milk Producers Organisation (MPO).

    Please note that AgriSkills can’t guarantee practical assistance in your area.

The course aligns with the following SAQA-registered Unit Standards:

  • US 116107 – Identify Basic Breeding Practices for Farm Animals (NQF Level 2 | 5 Credits)
  • US 116215 – Apply Basic Artificial Insemination Practices (NQF Level 3 | 5 Credits)
